Adaptive Technolgies are among the most exciting prospects in terms of educational technolgoical systems. The ability of software to adapt to the needs of the student or the learner is incredible. Some of these software programs include those for advanced and gifted students. Online programs often offer the ability to formulate challenging course material for those students who may not be particularly challenged by the curriculum. In addition, there are adaptive technolgoical programs that exist for those who speak english as their second language. Programs offer teachers solutions for working with students with communication barriers. When I worked with the 1st grade classrooms at FSUS last year I saw that they often used adaptive technology to challenge every student at their respective reading level. While the benefits are enumerable, there are many challenges. For example, at higher levels, the differences in difficulty of work or challenge can often lead to minor social stratifica...

So far I have had a good experience with twitter. Although I do not really personally use the website for socia media, I find it quite easy to navigate and manage. I believe that it is a good way to view new information and share such information with other people who share similar interests. Despite this I feel like it is not as dependable as a website like Reddit which emphasizes relevance and quality through a system of voting and comments. I have certainley learned how to use the website much better and as of now I have experienced no issues with navigation or the website itself. The web site project was very helpful in teaching me the ropes of website design. Proficiency in web site creation is a competency that all teachers should have in the 21st century. I found the portion in which it had us embed a calender was very helpful, as that is something Ive never done before. Perhaps next time I would attempt to focus the assignment on hserability for students, or provide more gui...

Maintaining websites is a very important part of being a teacher in the 21st century. The website for Briar Woods High School, the high school I attended can be found at https://www.lcps.org/bwhs . The class pages are not the most well formatted, and the website is not the easiest to navigate, but the page is most assuredly serviceable. This site, of course, is catered to individuals who are ages 14-18, so the complications of navigation can most likely easily be circumnavigated. For example, the “staff” link is for staff to use, where as many might assume they can click that tab to go to the teachers pages. One actually must navigate to “academics” to find their teacher’s individual pages, which are not uniform in formatting when it comes to the actual links themselves.   I believe that technology is essential to accomplishing professional responsibilities. Of course, productivity software is a crucial part of all portions of the profession. Completing memos, spreadshee...

Web 2.0 tools are incredibly important in the modern classroom. As the podcast mentioned, Web 2.0 offers students the ability to create their own unique product on a "stage that allows them to showcase their work", gives them outlets to collaborate on work, and allows them to contact directly those whom can offer replies to their inquiries. I believe that the blogs that make up part of the web 2.0 technologies have multiple useful applications and show great promise for the future of individualized personal education. I believe that programs that allow students to comment and interact with teacher's creations (such as voice thread and wordle) will ensure that teachers can connect with the students on a collective and individual level, furthering the development of educators and helping students to grow through interaction with content.  I believe Wikispaces (https://www.wikispaces.com/) is a great teaching tool that I will most likely use when I begin my teaching ca...

Currently I am still in the early stages of my experiences with twitter. I did use it a bit in my personal life beforehand and found it to be a great way to stay updated with braking information and news. I believe that twitter is also a good way to gauge interest in ideas due to the ability for people to like, retweet, and react. Twitter allows you to surround yourself with information and people pertinent to you personal interests. Twitter can be an interesting way to interact with future students, however I do find the medium to be far too personal to have a practical application outside the ways in which it is being used for our course. I believe the digital divide can have a strong impact on students for a short period of time. Currently, there are many disadvantaged students who don’t have access to a large portion of modern technologies at home. The digital divide can prevent students from feeling fully enfranchised in the classroom setting. It may also affect the ease with...
